ACTION AID Bangladesh

BOMSA also partnered with ActionAid Bangladesh (AAB). Realizing community mobilization as an integral part of any grassroot intervention, BOMSA has been maintaining a strong foot on this issue. AAB supported community mobilization in two unions (Chandor and jamita) of Manikganj district. Those groups still work today with strong determination to work for the rights of the women migrants. BOMSA also worked for rehabilitation of flood affected vulnerable migrant community in Rupganj (chonpara), Keraniganj, Tongi, Savar and Dhaka with AAB support.
ActionAid is an international anti-poverty agency whose aim is to fight poverty worldwide. The organization work with local partners to fight poverty and injustice worldwide, reaching over 13 million of the poorest and most vulnerable people over the last year alone, helping them fight for and gain their rights to food, shelter, work, education, healthcare and a voice in the decisions that affect their lives. The organization has its country office in Bangladesh. BOMSA received a small funding support from AAB to address safe migration issues.

International Lobour Organization (ILO)

ILO came forward to address migrant women workers issues and joined hands with BOMSA. Health is one of those areas where BOMSA received continuous support from ILO. Realizing the fact of women migrants being more vulnerable in some aspects in the origin country and abroad, ILO provided technical support to BOMSA to develop a training module on HIV/Aids awareness for women migrant community. This training programme was further collaborated with HIV/Aids and STD Alliance Bangladesh (HASAAB) and Marie Stopes . Although funding support ended for some activities, BOMSA is still continuing training from their own fund in collaboration with the GoB. A total of 1,135 returnee women migrants were provided counseling support for reintegration. ILO also assisted in the development of the web site of BOMSA.
The International Labour Organization (ILO) is devoted to advancing opportunities for women and men to obtain decent and productive work in conditions of freedom, equity, security and human dignity. Its main aims are to promote rights at work, encourage decent employment opportunities, enhance social protection and strengthen dialogue in handling work-related issues. The ILO is the global body responsible for drawing up and overseeing international labour standards. Working with its member states, the ILO seeks to ensure that labour standards are respected in practice as well as principle. HASAB (HIV/AIDS and STD Alliance Bangladesh) is one of the national, leading Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) in Bangladesh devoted in the field on HIV/AIDS/STI for the past twelve years. It emerged as a specialized agency in HIV/AIDS & STI field with experience of grant management and capacity building (technical, managerial and administrative) of smaller NGOs, CBOs and Faith based organizations who are involved in prevention & control and care & support of HIV/AIDS. HASAB is one of the few NGOs that works with PLHA (People Living with HIV/AIDS) in Bangladesh and has a strong network and close link within this group. HASAB is an apex level representation and strong voice for many grassroots NGOs working on HIV/AIDS field. Marie Stops started to work in Bangladesh with the aim to improve the sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and well-being of women and men and adolescents in Bangladesh.
